What qualifications do staff possess and what training have they had?

We require professional references from all prospective coaching staff as well as a current CRB, first aid qualification and child protection certificate in addition to their qualifications. Most coaches have a Level 2 National Governing Body Award in at least one sport. Sports Xtra have developed an industry leading Continuous Professional Development programme and every member of staff is registered on this scheme which includes regular assessment, performance reviews and a personal development plan. Staff are trained in every programme they deliver to ensure that minimum operating standards are consistently maintained.

How is the provision funded?

There are several ways in which provision may be funded including parents, school budgets, fundraising activities and external sources of funding such a Primary Care Trusts and Extended Services. What age-groups are the activities suitable for?

Sports Xtra provide a diverse range of activities to suit all age-groups and most programmes have been designed to include age-specific sessions. From foundation stage through to ?A? level, Sports Xtra have the expertise to meet your requirements.

What planning do Sports Xtra use and what assessments are available?

Sports Xtra have developed a full range of plans including foundation stage work-cards, a comprehensive Key Stage 1 & 2 curriculum scheme of work and a detailed programme for each of the extra-curricular activities. We have also devised simple assessment mechanisms for each programme.

What do Sports Xtra require from the school?

Prior to commencing work with any school, we will always hold an exploratory meeting with the key stakeholders. We will need to discuss your requirements, desired outcomes and other deliverables, sanctions/rewards programme and other details specific to the provision. Clear expectations established at the outset is the best way to ensure a positive working relationship.

How are extra-curricular courses booked and who does the administration?

Sports Xtra provide your school with a service and the last thing we want to do is increase your administrative burden. All of our programmes will be promoted, administrated and delivered professionally under the supervision of a local manager. Parents book courses either on-line or using a booking phone-line with the school issued a group register prior to the course commencing

Are your coaches adequately insured?

All Sports Xtra coaches carry a copy of our insurance policy with them in their ‘Coach Support' manual which should be present whenever they are working in a setting.

Are your activities aimed at sporty children?

No! All levels of ability are encouraged to participate, however a core part of our ethos is to provide high quality provision for those children who do not have access to the same opportunities that the most talented children enjoy. Therefore many of our activities are designed to be attractive to those children who may not usually be encouraged to participate in traditional sports.

Who manages the staff and provision?

Our network of area directors are responsible for managing our delivery staff and will also ensure the smooth running our your provision. We've developed our unique delivery model over the last eight years and this has proved very successful with Sports Xtra having expanded from an office in Cambridge to a national provider working with hundreds of schools across the UK.

Who provides the equipment?

Sports Xtra provide equipment for all activities that we offer and this is included in the cost.
